Erik's teaching is rated extremely effective by students, peers, and colleagues. His pedagogical stances are rooted in collaborative scholarship and practice, and seek to provide students with simulation and experience. A cornerstone of his practice is the application of psychological realism to musical theatre. As such, you can find Erik in the classroom teaching, in the studio working with actors, on stage directing productions, or even in the healthcare simulation lab training actors how to serve as standardized patients.
Erik is actively pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership. He is firmly committed to his current research pursuits, which are rooted at the intersection of leadership studies and Shakespearean texts. He also maintains active membership in Actors Equity Association, directs theatre frequently on and off campus, and maintains
Erik is actively pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership. He is firmly committed to his current research pursuits, which are rooted at the intersection of leadership studies and Shakespearean texts. He also maintains active membership in Actors Equity Association, directs theatre frequently on and off campus, and maintains regular contacts and work in the industry. He has also participated greatly in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, both as a producing artistic director and visiting respondent - and has earned many awards in his short career for directing and production.

Erik's record at Jacksonville University is marked by active service in faculty and university committees. Notably, he has served on the Student Life Committee for many years, serving as chair for 3. He also served on the Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts Task Restructure Task Force (2019). He is a proud member of the university Title IX response team, where he contributes as an investigator. Erik also takes great pride in marshaling for graduation and serving pancakes each semester during finals week - a tradition he enjoyed as a JU student and is proud to carry on!
